I intentionally don't use Trajan. The "Ciem: Vigilante Centipede" font is Charlemagne Centipede, based on Charlemagne Std. The webcomic version's font was Copperplate Centipede, based on Copperplate Gothic Bold. "Stationery Voyagers" uses a small-caps, bold, italic version of Lucida Sans Typewriter. I'll admit, however, that I use Impact a bit too often.

Trajan has become the Don LaFontaine of fonts
You can try to tweak it or create ligatures
If it look like trajan might as well be trajan

This is fantastic. I just bought both books, and while their conclusions are ultimately depressing, Gladwell doesn't seem to take into consideration the newly created outliers from the sample of initial outliers. I will have trouble letting go of the "luck is when opportunity meets preparation" ideal.

Either way, I'm fascinated.

I really really like TRAJAN, and think it is elegant and classic. Hell, classic enough for the Romans to have used it.

You're absolutely right to single out this typeface's ubiquity in trash movie trailers - but actually, is it worse than the deep gravelly voice? Is it worse than summarising even the best film into 20 seconds, convincing the viewer that even a masterwork is a piece of disposable trash?

No. If these piece of shit films have to be released, why not use a great, classic font. It was hand-carved into the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery in London. Stonemasons across the land will attest to the quiet, timeless dignity of this typeface.

Granted, when applied to lame-ass movies, this loses credibility. However, I stand up for the right that lame-ass movies be allowed to use such a font, regardless of the subsequent content (which might well fail to maintain the standards established by this very classic typeface.)

I put it to you, Kirby, that you have (whilst making an acute and persuasive argument), failed to recognise that this font may well be the best thing a theater-goer might see, given the evidence. And surely humanity itself might present itself herein, as the greatest witness, and testament to, one's right to consume bullshit movies with an elegant typeface.
